Surfing up an appetite

I’ve just been checking one of my favorite sites to go check out new recipes.  Ever heard of TasteSpotting?  It’s a constantly changing site with nice big pictures of food.  When you see something that intrigues you, click on the picture and you’ll be whisked away to another site where you may find the recipe for that food, or perhaps a blog post about it, as in it could be a picture of food someone took while dining out at a restaurant or whatever and they’ll talk about it.  I find it really interesting, and it always has me drooling!  Like just a bit ago I clicked on this one picture of a Paris Brest, which is a traditional French cake.  Wow it looks so decadently scrumptious!  Anyway, when I clicked on that link, I was directed to the blog “La Cerise” written by a lady named Astrid.  Not only does she give the recipe and instructions, complete with pictures, but she also tells the readers her story of making this cake, and a little history on the actual cake itself.  And if you check out her sidebar, you’ll see it’s loaded with all sorts of other recipes to satisfy both your sweet and savory tastes, along with numerous bread recipes that make me crave a nice bowl of hearty home made soup and a big ‘ol hunk of bread!

Scrolling a little further down the list at TasteSpotting and HELLOEspresso-Chocolate Shortbread Cookies!!  Recipe and instructions are posted on a fun lady named Dee’s blog titled Choos & Chews.  Now the funny thing is, I’m not really a big fan of shortbread.  I made some a couple years ago that had chopped maraschino cherries throughout them, making the shortbread pink, and then I dipped them halfway into melted white chocolate and sprinkled them with red, pink, and white nonpareils.  They were not only pretty to look at, but quite tasty too.  Anyway, after seeing this scrumptious looking shortbread of Dee’s, I have decided they are a must for my Christmas baking this year!  I may even share with the girls at work… maybe!
