Arrgh!  I was getting really close to pulling the plug on this blog with all the damn spam comments I’ve been getting lately.  We’re talking 144 of them since I posted that last post about spam.  That’s insane!  I don’t have time to waste checking out all these email notices of a new comment to be moderated.  And it’s like I get one from one spam bot, and then I keep getting a whack of them from the same spammer.  That was enough to drive me whacko!  I was desperately trying to figure out this wordpress blog and how I could activate this askimet plugin that is supposed to help with the spam, but I couldn’t get the damned plugin working without the missing api key that I finally figured out how to get.  What a nightmare it’s been!  Anyway, I have the api key, the askimet and a wee bit of patience and sanity left, so I’ll keep it rolling and see how things go.  It’s not like I have a whole lot to say, but when I want to ramble on it’s nice to have a place to come and hang my hat.

It will never ever cease to amaze me at how some people figure they can just go to a blog — any blog, pick a posting — any posting, and figure they can leave a completely spammed out comment trying to either sell their wares, or up their page rank with Google or whatever by doing this.  I swear I just had a notice to moderate a comment made to a past posting that was nothing but a bunch of links — 30 of them to be exact!!  Needless to say I didn’t approve this spamy comment, which isn’t a bloody comment at all!  Crap!  They didn’t even say hi or nothing, just a whack of links, and none of them had anything remotely to do with the posting they were attempting to link through.  Give your head a shake people!  If you have something to say, by all means lets hear your voice, but if all you want to do is spam my blog with your countless links, then don’t let the door hit you on the way out.  My guard dog eats spammers for breakfast!
